Travel

We know a lot of you will be traveling from far away places. If we can answer any additional questions to make the trip easier, do not hesitate to reach out!

Coming from the East Coast

You can catch a direct flight to Brussels from New York, Washington D.C. and Chicago. Alternatively you can fly into Amsterdam or Paris. Antwerp is a short train ride from all three cities.

  • Brussels (BRU): 35min train ride to Antwerp
  • Amsterdam (AMS): 1h by TGV to Antwerp
  • Paris (CDG): 3h by TGV to Antwerp

Coming from the West Coast

There are no direct flights from San Francisco or Los Angeles to Brussels. We recommend flying directly to Amsterdam or Paris and taking the train to Antwerp. Alternatively, you can connect on the East Coast.

  • Amsterdam (AMS): 1h by TGV to Antwerp
  • Paris (CDG): 3h by TGV to Antwerp

The Train

We do not recommend renting a car, as Antwerp disincentivizes cars downtown. There are a lot of one-way streets, limited parking and an enforced low emission zone downtown (older/polluting cars need to buy a permit to enter the city).

Antwerpen-Centraal (Antwerp Central) is the main railway station in the city.

The train station was designed by architect Louis Delascenserie and is colloquially known as the spoorweg kathedraal ("railroad cathedral") for it’s vast dome in the main hall. You can book train tickets from anywhere within Europe here.

Getting Around Antwerp

Walking: In classic European fashion, Antwerp is a "pocket-sized" city, making it extremely walkable (and our favorite way of exploring and getting around).

Public Transport: The second best option is the tram which operates both above and underground.

Ubers + Taxis: there are taxis & Ubers available in Antwerp as well.
